Rubartelli, Anna

Anna Rubartelli is an MD with a Master in Hematology. She led the Cell Biology Unit at the National Cancer Center, San Martino Hospital, of Genoa (Italy), until 2018. Dr. Rubartelli is a leading scientist in the area of innate immunity and inflammation. Her studies led to elucidate the role of the cytokine IL-1beta in inflammation and in inflammation-related diseases. She also contributed highlight the therapeutic effects of anti-IL-1beta biologic drugs in different diseases. Since her retirement, she teaches at University courses and participates to outreach activities to communicate science outside research labs. Anna has published 135 highly cited original research articles and reviews, and 4 scientific books and presented her work at international meetings.
