Ways You Can Help
AFSO’s volunteers are professors, educators, and professionals from around the world who help expand educational access for Afghan women. By volunteering with AFSO, you become part of a global academic community working to transform lives through education. We welcome volunteers in teaching, mentorship, curriculum support, and administrative roles.

Teach with Us
We welcome teachers in all fields of study, especially the liberal arts & sciences, engineering, and health sciences. AFSO runs three trimesters a year, with flexible schedules to accommodate volunteers’ needs. We provide a thorough orientation to our synchronous, online teaching methods, our platforms, and the challenges and rewards of teaching across different academic cultures. Every class has a teaching assistant to help professors and augment student learning.

Become a TA
We welcome both students and educators to assist in our classes. We make every effort to match TA volunteers with professors, in terms of both scheduling and area of interest. We are happy to oversee academic internships. Teaching assistants also have the option of conducting their own peer-to-peer classes in English grammar, connecting directly with our students.
