Ellen Anderson is a retired biochemistry professor who earned her B.S. in Chemistry from Brown
University and a Ph.D. from Wesleyan University. After teaching as an adjunct professor for 25 years in order to raise her family, she completed her teaching career as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Saint Joseph, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Biochemistry. In
addition to biochemistry, her interests center on sharing her love of chemistry and its importance in
everyday-life applications. Although she retired in 2022, she has continued to teach an online graduate course for USJ in her favorite topic, the enzyme mechanisms of metabolism. She also has volunteered at a local high school, providing presentations about real-life biochemical connections for high school chemistry students as well as giving similar presentations at the local senior center.
